Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, then remove from heat.
- Cook the egg noodles in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine sour cream and cottage cheese. Stir until smooth and then add cooked egg noodles. Mix well.
Assembly
- Spread half of the egg noodle mixture into the baking dish.
- Top with half of the meat sauce, then repeat with remaining egg noodles and meat sauce.
- Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, until bubbly.
- Let the casserole cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Avoid overcooking the noodles; they should be al dente. Remember to season adequately and allow the casserole to cool for easier serving.
